Our Space
Hilltop Preschool offers five inspiring classrooms for a variety of learning environments.
Bug Bungalow and Ladybug Lounge
These classrooms are organized into Interest Areas dedicated to specific learning
activities following The Creative Curriculum® System for Preschool. Activities throughout
the day may include books on tape, reading, numbers and math, process art, fine
motor manipulatives, hands-on science experiments, music and movement, and cooking.
Dramatic play is devoted to freedom in imaginative role play. Some activities we
provide are a fully stocked kitchen, doll nursery, tool bench, dress-up corner,
stationary car, dinosaurs, dolls, cars, and ponies. Children gather at the carpeted
area for the Group Meeting for weather, calendar, Sharing Bags, discussion, and
storytelling. Voyages and Little Lambs faith based curriculum is interwoven throughout
the day.
Maximum Capacity: 14 each room
The Discovery Hub
Art and science are all part of a child’s discovery. Children can express their
artistic creativity by painting and drawing on the wall-length easel or immerse
themselves in process art with a myriad of interesting media or have fun “cooking”
and sculpting with Play-Doh. Science can be explored by examining items found in
nature such as insects, plants, bird nests, and sea creatures. Children discover
so much through touch and measurement at the sensory table that could be filled
with acorns, sand, or beans for scooping. They can even go on an archaeological
dig! The water table shows children firsthand the various physical properties of
objects such floating wood and sinking rocks or simply playing in bubbles.
Maximum Capacity: 7
Rainforest Retreat
This inviting classroom is a wonderful space to dream and learn amidst the monkeys,
tree frogs, elephants, and other rainforest creatures on the colorful mural. This
cozy space is devoted to blocks and building. There are plenty of blocks made of
various materials with all the elements a child needs to create a city or farm complete
with people, vehicles, signs, plants and animals. The Lego table and large dollhouse
are also part of the imaginative play. Students can also gather under the banana
leaf to draw and craft while a cozy corner stuffed with pillows is a quite place
to read.
Maximum Capacity: 7
Playground: The Outdoor Classroom
Children are exposed to fresh air and outdoor play daily as weather permits. A large
play structure has three slides, tower, and more. The sandbox, bike path, balls
and other outside equipment keep children busy in a quiet tree-rich environment
adjacent to Kleinstuck Preserve where students enjoy nature hikes and exploration.
